Ipanema is a beach located on the southern zone of the city Rio de Janeiro.
The beach was immortalized in the song “Girl from Ipanema,” written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and performed by Jobim, Joao, and Astrud Gilberto, and Stan Getz.
The beach in Ipanema is world-renowned. Populated with tiny bikini-clad bodies and many rich Brazilian youths, the beach is a symbol of pleasure and wealth.
Brazilian Barbecue: Churrasco
Churrasco (pronounced shoo-RAS-koo) or Brazilian barbecue was the traditional staple food of the gauchos (cowboys) of Southern Brazil. These are called churrascaria de rodizio, because waiters move from table to table bringing different meats on skewers. They then slice portions onto your plate.
The skewered meat is cooked over mesquite coals in a pit. Originally, each gaucho had his own churrasco knife which he used to cut pieces of meat from the skewer.
